Ah life...ya gotta love the surprise of it all. I have recently had a fun new opportunity to spread the goodness of delisheeeYo and help build a cool healthy culinary program for a new venture with the focus on weight management and healthy lifestyle education for teens. Mindstream is soon to launch just down the road from us on Hilton Head and guess what delightful frosty snack will be served? That's right, looks like a delisheeeYo mini store will make an appearance. Teens and kids are our best customers. They get the goodness and love the choice of toppings and don't care that yogurt is an amazingly healthy food choice that actually helps you reduce belly fat, better digest nutrients and keeps all the plumbing working. Perfect!

We are currently running 8 different kinds of super quality chocolate including French white and dark chocolate crunchy pearls, Ghiradelli semi-sweet chips and King Leo Peppermint Bark (King Leo is the best, no skimping on the peppermint crunchies like the other brands), and lets not forget our three house made syrups: mocha, aztec and classic milk chocolate and finally, the whole roasted Columbian Cacao Nibs...which in my humble opinion are THE BEST crunchy component. Well it's finally happened, it's cold on Hilton Head. Which is the perfect excuse to heat up the menu at delisheeeYo. Its a bit of a slow day at the ole yo shop which gives me a little time to catch up on important businesss AKA fart around on the internet all day reading friends blogs and posts and do a little of the same myself. Today we are at the Bluffton Farmer's Market pressing fresh apple juice and doing a little marketing for delisheeeYo's organic juice and chopped salad station. The apples are in high season and ours today are Texas Wine Saps from Greenville SC. They have a nice tart flavor and make a smashing juice. Swirly Blake is at the juicer switch while I tend the digs. Soon coming as well, delisheeeYo will be making an appearance at the annual Taste of the Season event on Hilton Head. All the big dogs turn out for this holiday taste and toaster and we are happy to represent the groovy nitche. We will be offering, once again, a seasonal juice, likely apple-cranberry and perhaps a little Aztec Hot Chocolate. More than a 1000 people show up for the evening and I think it will be a blast. Get your tickets and turn up on December 3rd.

Yo and Joe

The mornings are cooling down and delisheeeYo is heating up with some fine coffee and tea offerings. We are now serving Monk's Groovy Beans: a conscious small roaster out of North Carolina that donates portions of their proceeds to feed hungry kids. Available by the cup, or a half or whole French press, with organic half and half, coconut, or almond milk, org. sugar, agave or local honey. Come on in and cuddle up to a Bold and Beautiful brew. Also on the menu for the chill season are organic Yerba Mate, White Tea and fresh Mint tea by the pot. And, a hot chocolate made with our stellar Aztec syrup-with chipotle and cinnamon-is in the works. Yo, Joe, the NY Times and fall sunshine on the paddiyo...delisheee!!

Raw Rippin' Real

The juice bar biz at delisheeeYo has really ramped up over the last weeks. Local lover's of rippin raw goodness in a glass are giving us some daily love and we appreciate it...so much so that we are ready to invest in a new 36 inch cold drop space to house our expanding selection of organic, local and seasonal fruits and veggies for juicing. This weeks specials: Organic Carrot-Orange Julius, cause when pushed through our super high speed Italian juicer...the liquid magic froths up like an Orange Julius..a drink I loved as a kid! We screamed through 65 pounds of produce! And if you are looking for some green goodness we are offering Okefenokee Swamp Juice: 1/2 a head of romaine, 1/2 a cluster of kale, 4 stalks of celery, 1/2 bunch of parsley and 2 pink cripps apples! Delicious with a splash of ginger juice. Guaranteed to keep away the gators and poisonous snakes. Get some in your belly!

Daily yo yo Lauren Van Horn gives the avocadyo a major thumbs up...her toppings today... in preparation for her afternoon Kick Ball event...Avo, Pistachio, Goji Berry and a dusting of Spirulina! Smart girl!

AvocadYo

The seasons are changing and so are the toppings at delisheeeYo. The bloom is off the summer berries creating an opening for 2 new toppings (raspberries, blueberries) just in time to take advantage of avocados. Mother nature knows whats good for us and when...avo's are rich in healing vitamin E and ready just when our skin needs it most, after the blistering summer. And the apples are coming in, adding a delightful crunch to our yo. Come on in a make a buddahful belly.

Fall into some Groovy Beans and Tempting Teas

Yola delisheee lovers...although our faboo soft serve frozen yogurt is a healthy yommy and good for yo tummy year round treat, the cooling season commands a little warm libations. Post labor day I am happy to announce that Monk's Groovy Beans, Yerba Mate, fresh herbal mint tea (that's a little French press packed with fresh mint) and other seasonal warm beverages will be offered during our new fall hours. Those of you that have been asking for a yo stop before work better get in here because I am hauling my keester out of bed to open at 8am monday to saturday! New tables for al fresco-yodeling on the wrap around deck should be rolling in just in time. Stop by for the coolest hot beverage service in town. Great beans, organic half and half, local honey, agave or organic sugar..ya baby!!

Mangos...who knew?

So. Did you know that mangos are the most widely consumed fruit in the world? I didn't. It thought sure it would be bananas or apples, but it turns out, the most popular fruit is mango. And as a topping choice on our yo...mangos are right up there...but #1 is strawberries. But mangos are amazing, totally high fiber, mega vitamin C and best source of Beta Carotene (vitamin A in an orange suit). And they are delicious. Stop by delisheeeYo and get your mango on.

Count Down to Bonelessness...

Just a few short days and our Kombucha Queen, Brew Mitress, Swirly Mamma and my long time good friend miss Wendy Layton (the wen-bone) will be rollin' West. Folks at the shop have been inquiring for days about her whereabouts which speaks for the impact Wen has had on our little community of yo-lovers. Her enthusy-spastic energy, super-saleswomenship and pro Chef C spin has earned her the love she so deserves. Soak it up my friend! Maybe we can lure her back sometime for a cameeeYo appearance. Until then Chef is lining up a couple of nice new people to energize the shop and keep the good feelin's alive.

Yola rainy day dreamers. Good thing this rain held out for a day so Go Tri Sports here on the posh rock could hold their annual August Beach Bum Triathlon. Thanks for letting us put out marketing junk in your race packets Al. The 10% discount is a deal not to be missed. We set up a delisheeebooth of juicy, locally grown (the last of the crop from one of our local farmers) seedless, sweet cold watermelon, supplied by my buddy and Organic produce dealer-Tyrone-down at the south end Piggly Wiggly. I know this all sounds very down home and local and you're right ...it is. Small local businesses working together to bring goodness to a fun local event. TK and I screemed through 30 melons and wow...were the athletes grateful for that bit of icy cool refreshment. I would have loved to whip some Yo on them but alas, yogi mommy (our vintage soft serve machine) doesn't travel. But the melon was a home run and we got free shirts! I love my life!!

Rainy Day and Tart Yogurt!

The rain is not keeping the faithful away from Delisheee Yo!

No, it's not as busy as usual, but rain or shine.. people crave the yo! Truthfully, I do too.

It is indeed raining quite a bit out there today and while it's letting up, I think it'll continue for a bit.
We have had people seeking us out for our kombucha and finding us on yelp.com. Fun little things to aid in bringing business!

I am excited to see what the winter season will foster in the way of fun and tasty morsels in here! I have a feeling the place is only going to continue to build. Chef C will be churning out something delectable to be sure!

Today's fave ingredient has definitely been the cherries. They have been flying outta here for the last 3 days in fact. I finally broke down and had some in the yo.. and it was sooooo good! Wow! I never knew!

Around here, the kids start school tomorrow, and the college kids drive back to where they are attending school. Sad to see some of these folks go... nice people here for sure!

Saturday!

Looks like it's getting ready to storm out there! And know what? We still have the perfect refuge in ANY kind of weather! It's easy to say that our tart frozen yogurt is refreshing when it's so out, but it's good anytime! In fact, it's kinda delish with just some granola for bfast!

Anyhow, our search for a new Mistress of Yo continues. I am in fact heading back to the land of quirky people I call home in Bisbee Arizona.

Let me say this about working at Delisheee Yo..

Working for Chef C is fabulous! She is one of the best people I have ever known. And I have known her for over 20 years. It's fun here! The people who come in are excited out this awesome treat! And they get how this place is a cool little vortex of awesomeness in Hilton Head. I highly recommend looking into this job opening here. I have a feeling that great things are in store for Delisheee Yo, and this could be a killer ground floor opportunity for the right person!

Other than that, I am jamming out in the shop to Scout (my pal Ashen Keilyn's band) and it soooo works in here! I think Scout is one of my fave indie bands of all time! They are playing NYC at The Living Room on August 13th if you are so inclined!

My yo today was straight up plain. Sometimes this yo in it's pure form is just what ya need!

Yes it's true, and sad sad sad, our beloved swirly sista with the sick jams and the ready laughter is forsaking us for her desert digs. Come September the wonderful Wendy will be leaving the posh rock. So, we got a big bad pair of flip flops (with ortho support) to fill in the next weeks. If you have been loving the groovy retro paint patterns adorning our little walls, good news! You will soon be able to strut your stuff in a home-screened delisheeeYo Tee. Our gifted house artist Vanessa Vermond is in the studiYo with the YuDo now, squeegeein' some gorgeous designs to elevate your wardrobe. They are going to fly so get here soon. And...the local blueberries are almost done, we will be moving north with the crop through the summer but the SC grown have been scrump...get um while they last.

We have been ALL KINDS OF BUSY!

I think it's fairly safe to say the the shop is a huge hit here in Hilton Head. Maybe there really are enough people who crave something truly healthy out there on this wee island after all!

So it's been crazy! And I can promise this... before tonight is over, I will run out of the beloved strawberries that are consistently the top requested ingredient here. If it weren't Saturday (turnover day here on the island) I'd pop out to the store... but all the folks just coming into town are very busy shopping at every local store in preparation for their week-long timeshare stay.

S'okay. I have plenty of incredible fruit here...lots of local and organic choices today.

Folks are finding us through Yelp and this little blog. And for those of you savvy enough to be sleuthing out the good stuff on the web, thanks for digging past the chain stores and the usual place to find the little healthy oasis that awaits you here!

New Combo Alert!

If you are reading this, you most likely have been in the best darn Tart Frozen Yogurt Shop (and only tart frozen yogurt shop) on Hilton Head Island.

We make our chocolate sauces here in-house. One of the benefits to that is having the extra Ghiradelli Chocolate Chips in a large jar to put on the yo.

Had a regular in and she got the Ghiradelli's, unsweetened organic coconut and the decadent Callebaut White Chocolate Pearls...

It's hot out, and maybe classy looking yogurt isn't speaking to you.. I understand. We have some killer limeade today as well as carrot pineapple juice!

Tomorrow is Omm Sunday... all yoga practitioners get a discount. And so do all body workers!

Today we have a local yoga instructor filming her "Hip Yoga" class in the shop for a local station. We are shutting down for a few 10 minute increments while they film. We have 3 yoga mats, 1 camera guy named Matt and of course Vicky the instructor.

Another fun milestone!

Now just over 6 weeks old!

The vibe has been fabulous in here, with folks from all over coming in day after day raving about this wee little frozen yogurt shop we have going! Seeing people happy makes us happy!

Fresh juicing biz really starting to take off... we are juicing to order.. whatever we have is fresh and ready! We are also the only place for quite a few miles to have kombucha. And THAT is spreading like wildfire! We are having people come from all over the island to get their komboo fix!

We have added a bunch of specials each day of the week to take care of most segments the population here.

Come in, check it out!

The other day about a half hour after we opened..

A young lady came in and said," I have been thinking about my yogurt and what toppings to have since I woke up!"

With smiles on our faces I happily got her the combination that she longed for... and off she went.

And it struck me.. this yogurt really is that good!

Today one of my fave couples came in.. and they have been very faithful since we opened..they really mixed it up and got totally different combos!

And I thought we should post some of the delish combos!

crystalized ginger, coconut and white chocolate pearls

Both have coconut.. which is one of my fave ingredients because it freezes up and gets crunchy!

There is no bad combo... if you pick flavors you love... it will be delisheee YO!

What's the best marketing?

We believe the best marketing is to churn out a delicious product.

Aside from that, we are looking at how to maximize a small amount of $$ towards marketing.

Social media?
Postcards?
Printed ads?
A free llama with every purchase? (not really)

What does it really take in today's economy to get people who aren't really looking around to take notice of something healthy and yummy?

These are some of the questions we are tossing around this afternoon at the shop.

Geez, if anyone was reading this blog, I'd ask for feedback! However... we are so new.. I dunno if ANYONE is even knowing of it's existence!

Today we have the ripest strawberries I have ever seen! And some of the most beautiful raspberries on the island!

Both of those with some blueberries on top of some of our Delisheee Yo and you basically have an red white and blue extravaganza!

We are doing a Food and Beverage Employee Appreciation Day every Monday. Offering a dollar off each prepared item! Next up is figuring out what day to do public service employee day... teachers, police/fire, city clerks...everyone! We want to show we care, and give healthy treats to those who work so hard every day to make this community what it is.

Momentum.

We are building it over here! We got our "Frequent Fly-yo" cards as well as kombucha club cards in! We have a wall plastered full already!

It's really amazing to see how excited people are when they try the yo for the first time are! And, it's very gratifying to have folks from California or NY or other big hip metropolian areas come thru and say that this is the coolest spot with the best healthy treats on Hilton Head!

Thanks to you all who have come through and shared your joy at finding the place! And thanks for calling all of your friends and telling them you just found the best new thing on the island! I swear we had at least a dozen people in the other day who had been told to get right over here as it was not to be missed! That feels good.. Chef C the owner, had this vision, made this vision a reality and it's taking off!

And the way we know it's hitting the right cord is your feedback when you come in the shop. Your smiles and enthusiasm fuel our excitement about what's going on and it's contagious! We love to feed you healthy treats.

How sweet that a nice woman came over from the restaurant next door to ask how late we were gonna be open? How happy was I to say that I wouldn't close till her crew came over for some yogurt? I know... it could be 10 pm before they get here.. but dinner goes late here... and you need the yo after your meat fest! It'll help you digest!

So here at the yo shop, we had some Natalia Zukerman playing off of her cd "Brand New Frame" and I was having a perfect moment of incredible music and a ridiculously delicious shot of kombucha.

Knowing that Ms. Zukerman loves the komboo... I know it was one of those sweet moments that you just kind of sit back and appreciate for the fleeting thing it was. I did just that.

Natalia is playing in Columbia,SC on July 1st and Atlanta on the 2nd. Just have to decide which show to get to.. but I will not miss her playing in the area for sure!

She sure would like the komboo we have going on over here... might have to bottle some up and bring it to her.

So this is our mohawk scrubbie guy... he makes cleanup fun around here!

We have some delicious tastes of summer here today! Besides the ONLY tart frozen yogurt on Hilton Head Island, we are doing up some fresh watermelon juice and I have some organic mangos and peaches that are simply mouth watering!

It continues to get busier around here. It's mostly locals which is cool, and the lucky tourists who find us. The funny thing is, if a group of tourists DOES find us, they come in every day till they leave! I swear! It really is that good!

Fresh, local and organic whenever possible, and all of the best of the best ingredients!

And the fun keeps rolling in! We are stocking up on some healthy things for folks to take away to use at home and for some healthy snacks. Agave nectar with the lowest price offered on Hilton Head Island! We also just got in some Vita Coco water, and we now have the "Surfer Mix" snack bag to go.

The smoothie business is jumpin' and we have to thank "All About Me" and "Jiva Yoga" for sending in some of their friends.
